Outdoor Play Review: Sandy Point at Lucky Peak Lake

Today we visited Sandy Point at Lucky Peak Lake.
The  address I found online said 74 Arrowrock Rd Boise ID 83716, but my GPS showed this address 20 minutes farther down than it actually was.  If you are looking for it, after you cross the river go past the Lucky Peak Discovery Area.  Look for a large sign that says Sandy Point on the right and turn there.

There is a $5 daily admission charge per car.  You can also get a state park passport for only $10 for free entry for the year to all state parks.  You can find info for that HERE

The park area is beautiful.  There are a lot of trees along the edge of the beach area and 20 or so picnic tables and several barbeque grills.
The beach is a good size and we were the only ones there for quite a while.  I have heard it can get pretty crowded on the weekends though.

The splash area is pretty awesome.  The water is only a few feet deep there and the kids LOVED the spray fountains.  They each have a wheel to control water pressure, so there was extra fun to be had surprising unknowing waders with a sudden blast of water.

The water was crystal clear.  We could even see tiny minnows swim by.

The beach area was a good size and the seagulls certainly thought it was a great place to hangout.  They weren't aggressive, but were happy to steal your lunch the moment you walked away from it.  The kids thought they were great and had a blast chasing and feeding them.

There are bathrooms, but it can be a bit of a walk up the hill.  I circled the bathrooms here so you can see if you are by the splash area that it is a bit of a walk so try to stop on your way down.

The bathrooms also have an outdoor shower and full changing rooms.

Off to the other side, there is a sand volleyball court and what appears to be a concession stand.  We didn't venture that direction and it didn't seem to be open from where we were.

Overall, this was EXCELLENT!  The only negative thing is that the sand has many tiny pebbles and  can be uncomfortable on bare feet, even in the water.  I would recommend, if you do visit, make sure you wear water shoes of some sort if you can.

A few other details.
Pets are not allowed at Sandy Point.
Glass containers and fishing are prohibited.

 We loved Sandy Point.
We give this park
Two Sticky Thumbs Up "and a wink!"
